Sirius commands the forward camp raised before the gates of Cripta. He is the one who receives newcomers to these lands, and his is usually the first voice the awakened ever hear — "you're finally awake." A soldier of blunt speech, he keeps order at the post and decides who is ready to walk on to the gates.
The Threshold of the Banished
Sirius's camp is the antechamber of the world of the banished: a frontier post of soldiers, horses, and a clamor that never ceases, beneath hills wrapped in mist. Every newcomer passes through it before crossing the walls — for no stranger enters Cripta without first having a name and a record.
Sirius is the first filter of order that the Awakening imposes. He receives the awakened while they are still dazed from the crossing, sizes them up with a veteran's eye, and sends them on to be registered by Cassius. He is not there to comfort anyone: he is there to make sure the gate behind him stays orderly, whatever the world beyond it may be.

Nothing is said of his origin, nor of which creed he swore. Like almost everyone in Vashrath, he came through the portal — but what brought him there remains untold. Perhaps that is fitting for a man whose whole duty is other people's arrivals: of all the stories that pass through his camp, his own is the one that never gets told.
